Hidradenitis suppurtiva (HS) is a chronic, severely painful skin disorder. On average, patients wait seven to 10 years for a correct diagnosis. This session is designed to familiarize the clinician with HS and provide tools for managing it in a primary care setting.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
Identify hidradenitis suppurativa (HS)
Describe the prevalence and demographics of patients with HS
Recall the comorbidities of HS
Distinguish between HS and common look-a-like conditions such as skin infections, folliculitis, and ingrown hairs
Name appropriate treatments for HS in the primary care setting and the emergency/urgent care setting
