In the past year, both the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) and the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) have updated their recommendations for the management of both COPD and asthma, respectively. Faculty will discuss the new recommendations, how they compare to previous recommendations, and the pros and cons of these new management techniques. This presentation will discus the practical applications of the management of COPD and asthma and is geared toward providers who work in primary care, pediatrics, or family medicine.

Describe the first-line treatment option for patients with asthma
Describe the first-line treatment option for patients with COPD
Discuss the differences between current and previous asthma and COPD guidelines and why the new guidelines are preferred
