CE: .50 AAPA Category 1 CME
Do you have to CT all pediatric head injuries? This session will answer this question by examining the existing literature and using an algorithmic approach to guide clinicians’ decision-making. Attendees, whether they are dedicated pediatric providers, or clinicians who run in the other direction when a pediatric patient shows up in the ER, will gain confidence in making evidenced-based decisions for utilizing imaging in cases of pediatric head trauma.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
Discuss the current evidence driving a shift in ordering a head CT for pediatric patients with head trauma
Apply evidenced-based algorithms to children ≤ 2 years of age with head trauma
Apply evidenced-based algorithms to children ≥ 2 years of age with head trauma
Discuss age-appropriate anticipatory guidance and/or when to admit
