Infectious Diseases for the PA: Hot Topics and Updates

This session will provide an overview of a few infectious disease hot topics which often cause confusion in both outpatient and inpatient medicine. Topics included are respiratory virus management, including an overview of newly-approved RSV vaccines, C.difficile, asymptomatic and symptomatic bacteriuria, and AKI secondary to antibiotic combinations. This session is designed to be case driven, interesting, and informative for PAs that practice in a variety of settings.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
Provide an update on respiratory viruses including COVID, RSV, and influenza
Describe updated C. diff guidelines and current practice guidelines
Describe updated asymptomatic bacteruria guidelines and current practice guidelines
Review the concern for AKI with concomitant pip/tazo and vancomycin administration and ACORN trial data
