Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia in the world. Maintaining sinus rhythm has better patient outcomes and early intervention is the key to maintaining sinus rhythm. This session will discuss AF and updates from latest ACC/AHA/ACCP/HRS AF guideline updates. This discussion will include new staging criteria, risk factor modification, workup, stroke prevention, and treatment strategies including early ablation. This is beneficial for the primary care PA to help prevent stroke and encourage early referral for AF management for better patient outcomes.

At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
Differentiate between new classes of atrial fibrillation (AF)
Identify stroke risk and stroke prevention treatment options
Summarize AF treatment options including ablation and early referral
