This presentation will identify the risk factors, clinical approach, and secondary preventions when addressing strokes that impact patients 18-55 years of age. More importantly, this presentation will discuss the physical and psychosocial impacts of having a stroke in this age population and ways for providers to better support these patients and their families.

Summarize the clinical approach for evaluating patients < 55 years who suffer an acute ischemic stroke
Classify the risk factors contributing to ischemic strokes in the younger population
Evaluate the physical and psychosocial complications of suffering a stroke at a younger age
