Using a case-based format, the faculty will review their pro tips and tricks that can be used both in and out of the ICU. Early recognition of various forms of shock will be discussed, as well as steroid usage, agitation/delirium, and procedural tricks to better optimize first attempt success. Attendees will leave this presentation with an increased awareness of subtle signs of critical illness, new knowledge that will decrease ICU bounce backs and decrease intubations, as well as procedural tricks to improve patient care.

Describe the role of early goals of care discussions
Discuss the differential of profound lactic acidosis in the critically ill
Realize the importance of steroids in the ICU
Recognize the consequences of unindicated medications continued beyond the ICU stay
