Benzodiazepine Tapering: Updates From New National Guidelines

Representatives from ten national partner organizations convened for two years to develop the first national Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) for benzodiazepine tapering. A major discovery of this guideline was the acknowledgement of inadequate supporting data for what is often common practice. The engagement of patient panels during the guideline development also highlighted how important open conversation and planning is in determining an appropriate tapering strategy. This presentation will review the recommendations from the CPG and how to implement them in your practice, as well as highlight areas for future research.
