Dr. René F. Najera is an infectious disease and social epidemiologist, currently serving as Director of Public Health at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. He holds a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology, an MPH, and a DrPH. His work focuses on vaccine-preventable diseases, public health surveillance, and science communication. Dr. Najera has led epidemiologic investigations and public education efforts across government and non-profit sectors. He also directs the History of Vaccines project and teaches epidemiological applications of GIS. Originally from Mexico, he’s fluent in English and Spanish and enjoys mentoring the next generation of public health workers.
